Early Life and Family
Paramguru Shri Maheswari Prasad Dubey was born on January 4, 1936, in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. He was born into a devout Brahmin family to Shri Pawhari Sharan Dubey and Smt. Sukhdeyi Devi. Known for his simplicity, wisdom, and charming personality, Dubey Baba exhibited spiritual inclinations from an early age.
Spiritual Journey
Shri Maheswari Prasad Dubey received initiation into Kriya Yoga from Shri Netai Charan Bandyopadhyay (Netai Baba). Practicing sincerely, he attained self-realization while fulfilling all his duties as a householder. His dedication and spiritual attainment qualified him to initiate others into Kriya Yoga.
Contributions and Teachings
Dubey Baba was an expert on the Bhagavad Gita and the Vedas. He authored the book "Kriya Yoga Rahasya" (The Secret of Kriya Yoga), which is considered one of the most authentic and authoritative texts on Kriya Yoga practice. His teachings emphasized the importance of sincere practice over mere theoretical knowledge.
Professional Life
For his livelihood, Dubey Baba worked with the Shipping Corporation of India in Kolkata. After attaining Kriya Ki Parawastha (a high state of spiritual attainment), he voluntarily resigned from his job. He settled permanently in his hometown of Gorakhpur, where he immersed himself in yogic practices and often remained in deep meditative states.
Service to Disciples
Following the example of his guru, Dubey Baba would visit the homes of his disciples as needed. His intention was to boost their spiritual practice (sadhana) and cleanse their environments of negative energies. His encompassing love and dedication made a significant impact on the lives of his followers.
Passing and Legacy
Shri Maheswari Prasad Dubey left his earthly body on July 17, 2004. However, his presence is still felt by sincere Kriyabans during their spiritual practices. His teachings continue to inspire and guide practitioners of Kriya Yoga.
