Early Life and Family Background
Dr. Sudhin Ray was born on August 20, 1949, into a devout Bengali Brahmin family in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. His parents were Late Akshay Mohan Ray and Late Kamala Ray. His early childhood was spent in the Beadon Street and Kankurgachi areas of Kolkata. Later, he settled in Uttarpara in the Hooghly district of West Bengal.
His forefathers belonged to the Barindra Brahmin clan of Kannauj, an ancient city now located in Uttar Pradesh. Some of his ancestors migrated from Kannauj to Mymensingh (now in Bangladesh), and eventually, one of his forefathers settled in Kolkata.
Education and Professional Career
Dr. Ray obtained his Doctorate in Biochemistry from the University of Calcutta in 1979. He then served as a scientist in various scientific and academic establishments. Later in his career, he joined SSKM Hospital in Kolkata as a scientist, where he worked until his retirement in 2009.
Personal Life and Interests
A householder, Dr. Sudhin Ray is the proud father of two daughters who are happily married. His wife, Srimati Sujata Ray, a pious lady, is affectionately regarded as the Gurumaa by all Kriyabans (practitioners of Kriya Yoga) of the RYKY Mission. Besides his scientific pursuits, Dr. Ray is well-accomplished in playing the sarod (a classical Indian stringed instrument) and is also skilled in painting.
Spiritual Journey
From an early age, Dr. Ray was a devotee of Lord Shiva. Unlike other children his age, he was notably skeptical and inquisitive, traits that propelled his spiritual quest. His deep curiosity led to his initiation into Kriya Yoga in 1992 by Shri Maheswari Prasad Dubeyji. Recognizing his disciple's potential, Dubeyji later entrusted him with the responsibility of advancing the Kriya Yoga lineage for the betterment of humanity.
Founding of RYKY Mission
Since 2000, Dr. Sudhin Ray, now respectfully known as Gurudev, has been fulfilling his revered Guru's directive by initiating deserving seekers into Kriya Yoga. To support this mission, he established the Raj Yoga Kriya Yoga (RYKY) Mission.
Literary Contributions
Dr. Ray has authored several books in Bengali, including:

- "Adhyatmikta, Kriyayoga Aar Atmabodh"
